What is NDSU Giving Day?
NDSU Giving Day is a 24-hour online giving event that brings together alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, and supporters to make an impact across North Dakota State University. Every gift, no matter the size, supports the people, programs, and experiences that define NDSU.

When is NDSU Giving Day?
NDSU Giving Day will take place October 27, running for 24 hours from 8:00 a.m. on October 27 to 8:00 a.m. on October 28.

Can I give early?
Yes. Early giving opens one week prior, beginning Oct. 20, 2026. Gifts made during the early giving period count toward Giving Day totals and qualify for matches and challenges.

Where do I give?
All Giving Day gifts are made securely online through the official Giving Day website.

What can I support on Giving Day?
Donors can choose from a wide range of funds, colleges, programs, scholarships, and initiatives across NDSU. Whether you’re passionate about academics, student success, research, athletics, or campus programs, there's an opportunity to give in a way that's meaningful to you.

How will my gift make an impact?
Giving Day gifts provide immediate support for NDSU priorities while helping build a strong culture of philanthropy.

Is there a minimum gift amount?
Yes. The minimum gift amount is $5. Every gift helps build momentum and supports NDSU on Giving Day.

How do matches and challenges work?
Many gifts on Giving Day are amplified through matching and challenge gifts funded by generous donors. Matching gifts may match your donation dollar-for-dollar, up to a set amount. Challenge gifts are unlocked when participation or dollar goals are met.

These opportunities help stretch the impact of every contribution and build momentum throughout the day.

How is donor count calculated for unlocking challenges?
Challenges are unlocked based on the number of unique donors. If someone gives more than once using the same exact name and email address, they count as one donor.

Can donors pledge a match or challenge gift?
Yes. Donors may pledge a gift to support a Giving Day match or challenge. The full pledged amount will be applied to the current Giving Day, regardless of pledge length.

How do I set up a match or challenge for Giving Day?
Email Miranda at miranda.rutten@ndsufoundation.com or contact yourdirector of development.

Do pledges need to be paid off within a certain amount of time?
Yes. Pledges must be fulfilled within five years of the initial pledge payment.

Can I use a pledge payment as my Giving Day gift?
No. Existing pledge payments do not count toward Giving Day totals, matches, or challenges. A new gift must be made to participate in Giving Day.

Do gifts count if they are made outside the 24-hour period?
Gifts made during the early giving period and throughout the 24-hour Giving Day count toward Giving Day totals.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. Gifts made through the NDSU Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Are there administrative fees?
To support donor services, stewardship, and philanthropic outreach, 5% of each gift supports Foundation operations.

Can I use payroll deduction for my gift?
Yes. Payroll deduction is available for all NDSU, NDSU Athletics, and NDSU Foundation employees.

Can donors make a gift by phone or mail?
Because Giving Day lasts just 24 hours, donors are encouraged to make their gifts online so they can count toward Giving Day totals, matches, and challenges. Donors may also make a gift by phone from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST by calling 701-231-6819. Gifts sent by mail are always appreciated, but mailed gifts will only impact Giving Day results if they are received by Oct. 27, 2026.

Who do I contact if I have questions?
If you have questions about Giving Day or making a gift, please contact the NDSU Foundation: foundation@ndsufoundation.com.

Can I donate to more than one fund in the same transaction?
Yes. You can donate to up to 10 funds in the same transaction. Use the “+” during checkout to add additional funds. A minimum of $5 is required per fund.
